About
I am an enthusiastic 1st year maths student studying at Imperial College London. Like many, around 4 years ago, I was a pupil who found maths very tough and challenging. However, through 1 on 1 tutoring, not only was I able to get the best grades for maths at GCSE and A Level, but I developed a huge interest for maths (so much so that I am now studying it at university!).
I completed my secondary school education at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet where I got ten 9’s at GCSE and all A*’s at A Level in Maths, Further Maths and Physics (getting above 95% in all my Maths and Further Maths exams at A Level).
I want to show younger pupils who are like my former self that with enough practice, maths/physics doesn’t have to be hard and as a result good maths grades will come.
Experience
I have tutored 5 students professionally for GCSE and A Level Maths and also Non Verbal in the UKiset exams. As a result, I have built up a wide range of resources from PowerPoints to worksheets and assessments for a range of topics. I also have questions varying in difficulty to match the student's level and help them to progress up to the highest levels.Â
Â
Through my school, I have 3 years of tutoring experience where I tutored younger students for both GCSE and A Level for free. I really enjoyed teaching them tricky concepts and there's nothing like the feeling of seeing a student able to complete a tricky question or understand a difficult mathematical idea!
Teaching method
I want the lessons to be more of a conversation style so that the student feels comfortable in the teaching environment.
The first session will get an idea of the strong and weak areas of the pupil as well as the content that the student has been taught.Â
The next few sessions will involve interactive powerpoints where I will teach the content to the student and go through an example. Then I will ask the student to have a go to make sure they understand it. The first part of the lesson will be to teach the basics and the second half of the lesson will aim to look at harder questions in order to develop good mathematical intuition that is required to perform highly in exams.Â
Plenty of resources and questions will be provided in order to practice what has been taught and the more questions the student does, the better their problem solving skills will become.
