Hi, my name is Sara and I am a tutor looking to unlock the ability and potential of my students. I want students to trust me and use me as much as possible. I am friendly, kind, loyal, and patient and those who know me would say the same. I never give up on my students because it is important that they have support even when they are struggling. Being a student who suffered comprehending what I was learning when I was younger, I know best how to overcome the obstacles that slow us down academically from experience. My mission is not only to make my students successful inside the classroom but, also outside – they will find satisfaction within themselves when they understand its value not from grades, but from their hard work and determination. I am eager and excited to go on this journey with prospective students and help them find their autonomy in their studies so that they can be successful in everything they do. As an undergraduate student, I am flexible and highly organized; I will ensure that lessons and teaching are of high standard and accessible to everyone. I look forward to having students join our team!

Over the years, I have been lucky to support different people in different social settings; remotely and in-person. Babysitting has allowed me to support a family going through a difficult time and reduce their stress by looking after their 5-year-old daughter. Providing and playing with her has been an enriching experience as I could closely see the impact a small gesture could have on a family. Also, coaching yr9 students after school with their science has also been very insightful because our goal to help them catch up with other students demonstrated that with support, people who struggled academically could flourish and succeed beyond their own expectations which was amazing to observe. As a mentor in a summer school, I was able to form respectable friendships with students, provide career advice, and hear their stories which induced a support system within our bubble. This was significant to me as I could see everyone getting along and feeling more certain about their future because of the environment which inspired students to develop their confidence and maturity. In retail, I was able to use my problem-solving skills to ensure customers’ needs were met; helping them find what they were looking for, regularly cleaning the space, and providing answers to all their questions meant that they were satisfied with their experience. Recently, as a part of a team, I was able to assist our client in improving their business by conducting research, sharing draft and final reports, and responding to feedback.

Learning can be tedious and learning things over again can be ineffective in achieving the purpose of why you are studying in the first place. My approach has always been to be candid and honest about education and, to convince students that learning is only fun and exciting when you make it that way. My method involves changing students’ attitudes by helping them find their purpose within education itself – I believe that purpose is from the support of others. By making them feel that I am rooting for them and that I’m on their team, they will start to believe in their potential now, instead of being distracted about thinking of the long-term benefits that working hard will have on their life as this could lose their motivation very easily. They will find they will be strong-minded and less easily influenced by others when they see education as a community where everyone wants to willingly contribute to something great that is much bigger than themselves. This will fuel them with energy as they begin to take control and attract like-minded people without second-guessing themselves. From there, we work together, plan, and start learning with the security and confidence already instilled. The process I use involves learning, consolidating, testing, and teaching as I find it is the most reliable and consistent method against others.
