About
Hi I am Saranya and am a fourth Year Imperial College Medical Student!
I remember the stress of juggling A levels, applications to University and extra-curriculars and so can relate to what current GCSE and A level students are experiencing and this will hopefully make me a strong support system to those who would like it.
I was the first cohort to undertake all 11 of my subjects under the new 9-1 grading system which means I have acquired a set of study techniques and materials that can be used in the current exam format. At A Level , I gained A * in Biology , Chemistry , Maths and EPQ.Â
Enhanced DBS certified and have complete Gov.UK Safeguarding and Child Safety Courses.
Experience
I have been tutoring KS3-A Level Maths , Biology and Chemistry for the past 4 years but my passion for teaching first started in sixth form where I would tutor KS3 students in Maths, English and the Sciences. This allowed me to develop my communication skills to explain difficult concepts to students in an easy manner that would help them develop confidence in the subject which they initially found difficult.Â
I have helped students exceed their expected grades and get Grade 8/9’s at GCSE and A/A* at A Levels . During my time at medical school I have also tutored the younger years in the written and practical examinations and have coached students in their BMAT, UCAT and interviews for medical school .Â
My prior tutoring experience on other online platforms where I have tutored many students from KS3 to A Level has allowed me to gain a skill set allowing me to tutor students of all capabilities and help them maximise their capabilities.Â
Teaching method
- My lessons are 1hr each .
- Normally I start the lesson by going over the content that we are covering that day . This is typically for around half the lesson and I ask quick fire questions during this time to make sure that you understand the key concepts of the content. Here I highlight the key words and the phrases which need to be written in the examination answers to ensure those marks in examinations.Â
- Then we move onto exam questions and exam revision to ensure my tutees benefit maximally from each and every session and know how to pick up those easy marks in exams which can often make the difference between 2 grades .
- Progress will be measured by monthly short tests on the subject filled with exam questions .
Tutoring extensively for the past 4 years and having a track record of helping students achieve their potential has highlighted the importance of tailoring lessons to each individual so that they are able to learn at their own pace and make good progress over time to get those top marks!Â
